St. Bridget’s School Choir
In
2007, we added an opportunity for students to participate
more fully in school Masses. This new feature
is the St. Bridget’s School Choir. This group helps
sing at the school Masses by supplementing the students
in the grade that is responsible for the Mass.
Led by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond, the choir is an activity
that includes students from grades three to eight. The
choir is always looking for new members from these grades!
Music for upcoming Masses is practiced in music classes
so there is no additional practice time involved.
If you are interested in joining this choir, you can
tell Mrs. Raymond or put a note in her mailbox.
Choir Member Expectations:
Our purpose is to lead the congregation in sung prayer.
We are not performers; we are leaders of song.
You have to sing; choir is about singing! You
must not talk during Mass; this is disruptive.
Follow Mr. and Mrs. Raymond’s rules and examples.
You may kneel for the Eucharistic prayer. However,
you must kneel after the Lamb of God, for you are in
God’s presence.
On Mass days, one of the older students will bring you
over to Mass at 8:30. Do not leave before then
unless your class is responsible for the Mass.
Do not run off after Mass as Mrs. Raymond may have announcements.
When you leave choir, you will leave with your class.
There may be times when not all members of choir are
needed during school Masses.
This may happen if there are going to be many members
of the homeroom class responsible for the Mass sitting
with us.
If your class is responsible for the Mass, you don’t
have to be in choir. You are expected to sing
at all other Masses. Due to the size of the choir,
please remember that you may not have the opportunity
lead a song at every Mass.
Please let Mrs. Raymond know if you cannot sing in the
choir because you have a different role, like altar
serving, for that Mass.
There are two parish Masses at which we will not be
singing. This is because they are The Holy Day
Masses for All Saint’s Day and Ash Wednesday.
